Deep Stretch Yoga takes place each Tuesday from 4:15-5:15PM.
Location: First Baptist, Family Life Building (enter on 8th street under portico and press buzzer for entry). We meet in the hospitality room. Call for detailed instructions.
Cost: $10 drop in (Cash, Check, Venmo, Cash App, CC)
*Private yoga classes take place at Radiant Wellness (120 E. Taylor Street, Griffin, GA). Call for details.

PRIVATE YOGA
Do you wonder if you are doing your poses correctly?
Do you have an injury you would like to learn modifications for?
Do you want to deepen your yoga practice?
Personal yoga instruction is the perfect learning environment. You have the opportunity to work around an injury, gain confidence, work on alignment, specific poses, and receive guidance from a trained instructor that can focus on your individual goals and needs.
New Students: As a new student, the classroom environment may be intimidating. Private sessions allow the teacher to focus completely on you to make sure that you are comfortable with the basics. We will focus on breathing and gentle stretches. Through private sessions, you can make a seamless transition to group classes.
Experienced Students: Longtime yogis benefit as well. You have the opportunity to improve your current practice by gaining deeper insight into specific postures or poses that interest you. Work on alignment and modifications. This is also a great time to learn more about yoga philosophy, meditation and breathing practices. Typically, serious practitioners will do anywhere from 5-10 private sessions per year to focus on their practice and to ensure improvement and evolution of their practice.

MEDITATION CLASSES

Many companies realize that integrating physical fitness into the daily routine of their employees has many benefits. Regular physical activity improves ones mood, helps to prevent chronic diseases, aids in weight control, boosts energy levels, promotes a good nights sleep, increases mental focus, and reduces depression & stress. Some companies have gyms and health club memberships, but there are few programs that compete with the wealth and abundance of a regular yoga practice. Anyone can do yoga no matter what their age, whether one leads a sedentary lifestyle or is a regular athlete. Yoga offers modifications for every pose and allows everyone to explore their individual limits.

AT RISK CHILDREN AND TEENS

Many group homes and programs for at risk teens, underprivileged populations, and recovering addicts are beginning to integrate Wellness Programs into their curriculum. Because yoga has so many healing benefits, it can be extremely instrumental in helping people to realize their full potential and learn to love and believe in themselves. Yoga classes are prepared to induce self love, compassion, and kindness towards others.

CHAIR YOGA: SENIOR CITIZENS AND ACTIVITY CENTERS

As we age, it becomes even more important to take care of the body and the mind. Chair yoga can be done completely seated, or for the more active senior, standing and using the chair for balance. Many beneficial yoga postures, relaxation and breathing techniques, and even meditation can all be done seated comfortably in a chair. Recent research at Oregon Health and Science University shows that yoga helps with balance, flexibility, as well as “significant improvement in quality of life measures.” Another study led by Dr. Gail Greendale, a professor of medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, found that six months of yoga helped reduce excessively rounded backs in people ages 65 to 90. “They were less rounded and a tad taller at the end, and that’s very exciting,” she said.Yoga stretches the spine and allows fresh, new blood to flow through the body, rejuvenating organs and glands. It can also help to slow the aging process, bringing hope and positivity into their lives. Meditation will help them to feel centered and let go of loneliness and fear of death; realizing that the body is a means of transportation for the soul and that the real self is eternal.

APARTMENT COMMUNITIES

Yoga for residents can be done anytime from 5AM-8PM. Any available space will work; the gym, by the pool, in the leasing office, in the clubhouse, or off of the property at a nearby park. Treat residents to the gift of yoga.

YOGA FOR KIDS AND TEENS: ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOLS

Yoga allows children to positively express themselves through movement while exercising and improving posture, strength and flexibility. The simple and fun exercises of yoga assist with concentration and focus. Through yoga, children can learn to love themselves and to harness the confidence to be themselves. Kids Yoga Classes combine fun and simple yoga postures with relaxing breathing techniques to calm hyperactivity through quieting of the nervous system. Music and aromatherapy are used in order to cultivate health and happiness in all kids.Kids Yoga is offered during the school day, after school, or on the weekends.

Physical, Mental, & Spiritual Benefits of Yoga
Physical
Practicing yoga improves posture and brings about a toned, balanced, flexible and strong body. Yoga brings about abundant energy and vitality. Additionally, yoga relieves pain, improves physical performance, stamina and energy, and keeps everyone looking and feeling younger. Another added benefit to yoga is that it stretches muscles lengthwise, which causes fat to be eliminated around the cells, thus reducing cellulite.
Mental
Quieting of the mind brings focus to a specific task. It promotes relaxation and the ability to handle stressful situations with ease. Additionally, quieting the mind encourages positive thinking, relief from depression, self esteem and self acceptance. The steady, rhythmic breathing of yoga and abdominal breathing helps to activate the relaxation response, calming both the body and the mind.
Spiritual
Yoga creates awareness of the body and mind and nudges us toward acknowledging the needs of others. In addition, yoga allows us to quiet down and to hear what Mahatma Ghandi calls, "the still, small voice within." In Ghandi's own words, this voice can be described as the Voice of God, of Conscience, of Truth, or the Inner Voice, all meaning the same thing. We can receive guidance and wisdom from this inner Truth.
